mauritius hills residence

residential building

port louis
mauritius

2028

this building showcases contemporary tropical villa architecture, blending modern design with sustainable and biophilic principles. the architecture is clean, minimalist, and seamlessly integrated with the landscape.
the residence comprises several pavilion-like structures grouped around a central outdoor area with a pool. instead of a single compact building, the result is an ensemble that spatially divides various functions - living, sleeping, and leisure - while simultaneously connecting them through terraces and walkways.
differently pitched shed roofs add dynamism and respond to the topography and views. widely projecting roof and ceiling slabs create shade and provide protection from the tropical sun.
the choice of materials is deliberately natural and minimalist. vertical wooden louvers define the facades and simultaneously serve as sunshades.
exposed concrete forms the structural base and integrates the building into the hillside.
extensive glass facades open the rooms to the landscape.
this combination creates a warm, high-quality, and yet understated character.
