la pyramide
2027
abidjan ivory coast
architectural competition
the new design respects the monumental brutalism of the original structure while complementing it with a lighter, greener, and more open aesthetic. vertical greenery, transparent facade elements, and planted terraces contrast with the massive concrete structure, creating a symbol of the connection between past and future. ‚la pyramide reimagined‘ becomes a vertical city for the 21st century - a building that preserves history, addresses climatic challenges, and acts as a social, economic, and cultural hub, generating new momentum for abidjan. the design views the structure not as a monument to a bygone era of modernism, but as a living model for sustainable architecture in africa’s tropical metropolises.
