residential building
2ufer is a contemporary architectural residence located in kiel, northern germany, characterized by a minimalist aesthetic, sculptural concrete volumes, and a strong connection between architecture and landscape. designed as two distinct yet harmoniously connected building volumes, the property reinterprets modern residential living through clean geometry, natural materials, and carefully composed outdoor spaces.
the architecture is defined by bold, rectilinear forms, exposed fair-faced concrete, and expansive floor-to-ceiling glazing. the upper floors appear to float above the recessed ground-level facades, creating a striking interplay of solid and transparent surfaces. generous cantilevers provide shelter while emphasizing the buildings’ horizontal proportions and architectural precision.
the two residential wings are arranged around a central landscaped courtyard featuring a swimming pool and spacious terraces. this layout creates a private, sheltered outdoor environment while maintaining visual connections between the individual living spaces.
the material palette combines light-toned exposed concrete, dark metal frames, large glass panels, and warm timber accents. these elements establish a refined contrast between the robust, monolithic character of the exterior and the inviting atmosphere of the interiors. extensive glazing maximizes daylight and creates a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living.
